Empower Our Teachers

“Teachers are our front line with students. Enhancing their development in and out of the classroom is critical.”

Teacher Impact Awards

Each year at the Foundation’s spring Homewood Grown event, the Foundation recognizes one teacher from each of the five Homewood schools who has made a significant mark on the lives of students with Teacher Impact Awards. Recipients receive $500 towards classroom materials or professional development. Nominations come from parents, fellow teachers, administrators and even students who have been impacted by a teacher.

We are so proud of our Teacher Impact Award recipients and how they have gone above and beyond as educators. Please join us in celebrating our 2024 Teacher Impact Award Winners!

National Board Certification Financial Assistance

The Foundation provides financial support for Homewood teachers who pursue National Board Certification. Homewood is one of 79 districts in the country (and one of four in Alabama) recognized as a National Board Accomplished District.

“We currently have 52 National Board-certified teachers and another 22 in process. Homewood City Schools continues to be named a National Board Accomplished District each school year based on its percentage of National Board Certified Teachers. HCS is one of only four school districts in Alabama to earn this recognition.”

Cristy York, Director of Instruction for Homewood City Schools
